When floor space is tight but extra headroom between the bunks still matters, this taller twin-over-twin end-ladder design offers a useful alternative to a stairway bed. The four-step ladder sits at the end of the bunk, keeping the front of the bed open and shortening the overall length by about 20" compared with the stairway version. You can install it at either end and position it toward the front or back, giving you several ways to fit the bed into the room. Constructed from solid Brazilian pine with no particleboard, the bunk can later be separated into two individual twin beds.
